As an adult my favorite programs were the News Hour, Frontline, and This American Life. But it is unmistakable that it has never been more leftist than it has in the last 10 years. As long as you don't have to live in an apartment in a neighborhood full of illegal immigrants, or gang members, it's not bad. I live in a rural area 30 minutes from suburban shopping. Lots of acreage and three lakes within a few miles. One within walking distance. People are pleasant , with manners. If any one needs help, people are not too hesitant to offer assistance or help get them assistance. Nobody ever goes hungry, homeless drug addicts are the healthiest homeless in the world. Almost any kind of cuisine is within a reasonable driving distance. Everyone with a minimum income has a car. Lots of parking, in most places. Some communities like ours always get together for holidays and have potlucks. Children that are in a low income household usually always get gifts from friends and neighbors, if they've been around and socialized long enough. Anything you can possibly think of for your home , business, health, entertainment, even medical care for animals, is readily available, or a couple of days away to be delivered. The air is cleaner today than it was in the 1970s and 1980's even though there are more people. Crime is low in most places across the US. JUST IN URBAN ENVIRONMENTS it's bad. Gun laws in Chicago only handicap the law abiding. Because criminals don't buy their guns, or don't buy them legally. But in more suburban and rural areas, criminals are reluctant to do anything out here. Because they know how difficult to evade or get help it is, and most of all they know they could get put in their place very easily if they get caught in the act. Lots of legal gun owners out here. If you can think of it it's accessible. If you need to create it, the tools and necessities are nearby or obtainable in an average of 5 days or less anywhere in the country. No government is oppressing you. Or extorting you. Lots of emergency services available if needed. No matter the situation. Yes it's wonderful by international standards. And all of it is possible because we nominate and vote for all our leaders. And laws. Lots of communication and checks and balances. Over all majority of our population are moral and ethical and responsible. And there are perhaps a majority of very capable and educated people. That would never steal anything like some undeveloped child mentality. But their are the class of people that do so whenever it's easy no matter what. Thank goodness they're a minority compared to the rest of the population. Habitat is healthy with lots wild animals and resources. Ocean or land. Yes it's wonderful. I'm very grateful.
