It's called dumping. Excess produce in China exported overseas to stabilize their own domestic market. They no longer have to worry about deflation now.

The market can only absorb so much of a product that had been produced in excess. Too many farmers harvesting at the same time competing for a limited market.

Harvested watermelons don't last a month. Did you expect that the watermelons harvested last month are the same watermelons they are selling at the markets now?

They used to have issues with deflation; now it's inflation. That's been going on around the world so it's not really that bad. What's worse is buying expensive food that is tainted, dyed or toxic.

You must review what you watch. There is massive deflation in non-essentials and luxuries like apartments and cars due to overcapacity.

It's only the food that got hit by inflation due to less production. People need to eat somehow so they have no choice but buy more expensive food. Deflation hit the non-essentials and luxuries. You can survive without a house, without a car, or without a new iPhone but you cannot survive without food.

Inflation is better than deflation. The rising prices reflect the fact that extreme weather have impacted food production. People have no choice but buy more expensive food as they need to eat. More consumption, more revenue, more taxes.
