  1. Now this makes it clear why new graduates and the unemployed would rather take their chances on the shrinking job markets in the cities than go back to their hometowns to farm. It's a choice between the rock and the hard place.

  2. At least you can be sure that Japan's watermelons and other produce are not injected with hormones, washed/dipped in formaldehyde, or sprayed with pesticides or painted green to make it look fresh. I'd gladly pay a little bit more to eat safer and healthier foods.
