  1. In a survival mode environment, buying gold and other precious metals is considered less priority than having food on your table. You can't eat gold, anyway. Chinese people lack financial literacy. Nothing wrong investing big but they don't know when to cut losses when signs appear that things are about to go south. Too little, too late.
