  1. A lot of projects funded under BRI have been approved due to overly-optimistic projections. Since BRI projects are loans, there must be a feasibility study to determine if the project will generate enough revenues to cover repayments. Since the project has unrealistic returns and thus, unsustainable, loans can not be repaid. Sri Lanka is an example.
