  2. Even without the diseases, just the thought of the smell of all those dead and rotting fishes and livestock is already enough to make one sick especially if maggots develop inside the carcasses.

  3. Why would local officials fret even if their localities get treated like doormat by Beijing? Hell, they don't owe their mandate from their constituents. They are just Party hacks appointed by the collective leadership of the CCP which can have them removed if they dare defy the Party's wish. Simply put, local officials are more loyal to the CCP than to their constituents.
