  2. That "beach" looks filthier and more garbage-strewn than some rivers elsewhere. What's more disgusting was that those beachgoers don't seem to mind. Nobody was picking up the trash for proper disposal. I'm sure human poop were among the filth floating in that water. Disgusting.

  3. Both China and Taiwan claim to be the one and only legitimate government that represents the Chinese people. China asserts that they won the civil war and the regime Mao Zedong proclaimed in 1949 had replaced the one led by Chiang Kai-shek. The Taiwanese claim that Chiang's government was not vanquished nor surrendered, but merely retreated to Formosa (Taiwan's old name) to consolidate its forces. Being officially known as "Republic of China" is Taiwan's way of asserting its claim.
