Imagine showing in state television a nondescript, 'former elected official' from God-knows where wearing a plain t-shirt and an unkempt hair, and looking like he'd have a bad hangover, to lend credibility to your discussion? I thought appearances and images are important to the CCP? Their propaganda would have been better off had they interviewed a drunk, homeless bum.
