  2. This might be the first evaluation of nationalism I've seen to not use Benedict Anderson's Imagined Communities. That may be a good thing. I've also been taught that nations formed with the Peace of Westphalia in the 16th century. We can also see Machiavelli preaching nationalism in his works during the same century, wanting to unite Italy. Some form of tribalism is natural, but nationalism is its biggest form
