  5. Meer Omar a simple google search will show multiple articles and reports explaining how people in the US can wait 2-4x less than their counterparts in Canada. If you look Thurber you can also find reports explaining how you’re chances at survival are higher in the US.

Olivier LGD when you buy drugs, drug companies use that money to build factories, fund research ect. 75% of all medical research in the US is privately funded, and it’s brought in more medical breakthroughs than any other country. It’s definitely worth the breakthroughs, but the fact that other countries have used price fixing to control medial prices has left a majority of R&D to the US. There’s other issues as well, the us has a doctor shortage, the us is lacking medical equipment for the future, ect. It’s an issue, but a Medicare for all system that would cut doctor salaries, increase taxes, kill jobs, reduce hospital funding and research.

The more people it helps, the bigger the demand and the better the profit. What do you even mean by this? Drugs cost more in the us to pay for the R&D that other countries don’t pay for. These companies use that profit to pay thief executives of course (they are the heart of any business), but they also will put it to research. That’s why 75% of all drug research is done by private enterprise.

  13. Meer Omar underinsured is very vague. Many people classed as “under insured” are very happy with their cover, or use an alternative option like a workplace system. Sane with uninsured, it classes people who choose not to buy insurance because its not worth it in the same bust as those who cannot afford it. Anyway, if you choose to go uninsured that’s your risk. You could get a easy part time job and easily pay off the insurance fees, but must choose to wing it.

  18. karagi101 let’s talk about solutions. You say Medicare for all, which forces everyone to pay taxes and be on a single system. My idea is instead a government health insurance system. You get charged a premium based on your lifestyle, and you get basic cover to all emergency services, mental health, ect. Your GP and non-compulsory visits are subsidised, with most of the few being paid. You can then choose to get a secondary private insurance. These can cover other things, like dental, ambulance, ect.

  19. karagi101 other western society isn’t like the us. They don’t have massive obesity rates, they don’t have a population of 320 million, they dont have a massive country with huge diversity in genetics.

  20. karagi101 the problem with a third of the population being obese is that they will be sucking healthy taxpayers dry. If you have a bad life style (smoke, are obese, ect) you should pay more.

  22. karagi101 car insurance companies charge more the more you drive, and if your a new driver. It also depends on the car. Anyway, obesity is 100% a choice. You have a bad diet, or you don’t exercise. Sure, it’s easier for some to stay fit - but there’s no excuse. If you can only afford unhealthy food, you are probably covered under Medicare/ have food stamps.

  25. A better way of working it would be better legislation. Not a single payer system that would lead to market stagnation, loss of jobs and hurting those who work hard.
