  1. Because governments are less financially answerable. Governments can't be sued for incompetence, citizens can't opt out of paying into the government, and in fact if the government fucks up they essentially have the power to take everything from you to make up for it. Government's rarely ever fail and have a competitor rise in their place. A corrupt election every 4 years is not accountability.

  2. Sure, once you invent something you can't invent it again. But that doesn't mean things haven't been improving at a great pace as well. The gorgeous 3D graphics computers can output is as much to thank to better software as it is better hardware. Many times they work in unison, and many times software is held back by hardware.
