Yeah that is a big downside. Definitely would only get an EV if I could access a charger at home, that’s the main benefit!

That seems excessive, but yeah most EVs run low thread tires to increase range and lower braking distance. Shouldn’t have to change them every couple months though, more like every 2-3 years

Public transport is only good for small ranges and is generally slower and more restrictive. They aren’t a replacement for cars.

@opelfrost it works short distance. Still isn’t as convenient or quick as a car but it works. But beyond that it’s pretty shit. It’s much more expensive to take a train. Actually it’s often more expensive to take a train to other countries in Europe than to get on a plane. That’s why Amtrak leaks money. It makes no sense.

@opelfrost because Maglev is completely unsustainable. China loses money on its Maglev, fast trains are much more cost effective

That’s funny, considering that the EU and US are shitting themselves because Chinese made EVs threaten their national car industry’s. Cars, ICE or Electric, are already subsidised and protected by tariffs

Insert $10k Chinese EV with 400km range. Everything you said will be fixed with time. Batteries will get cheaper, in the past 15 years battery costs have dropped tenfold and they will continue to drop. It’s on track to fall another 30% come 2030.
