And that’s a bad thing? How dear we get affordable online deliveries!!!

He got $300 000, and sold 6% of his company to his parents. He was born into the working class, his mother was 17. She left and found a new man, who was an engineer.
1
He can’t use it, it’s all in Amazon shares.

Here come the “wealth tax” idiots
1
froggie first off, wealth tax wouldn’t effect Bezos. Almost all of his net worth is in shares. Unless you are advocating that the government cease all private enterprise (which if someone does, they’re beyond lost), you aren’t going to touch him. Secondly, that’s just pure theft. The constitution is a very iffy subject when it comes to taxing people’s owned goods. It’s fine with things like income taxes, but it’s questionable when you tax capital people already own. The rich would just move to other countries and stop investing outright.
1
Most of it is just the value of his stocks. He has an 11% stake in a trillion dollar company. In reality his liquid wealth (liquid assets, cash, ect) are much lower
1
It’s mostly just amazon shares. He has a 11% stake in a $1 trillion company.

MrDudi42 and those people dying of starvation are usually in countries ripe with corruption, crime and a terrible economy. And unless you end that, your never going to feed them. Throw them all the money you want - they can’t do nothing with it because I’m there country there is very little.
1
Why?
1
And the government could give everyone $22 000 and still have money left over.
1
Tax what?
1
It’s all shares so...
1
Yeah, but the more that leave.
1
He pays taxes, depending on the income of course.
1
How?
1
Because a majority of his net worth is amazon stocks. He only has around $2.5 billion in liquid wealth - much less than the $150 billion that he is worth
1
I thought it was only 2-3 billion
1
The deficit

The problem with socialism is the us no incentive to work hard or innovate. On top of that, demands are set by a government- not the consumer. In the USSR we saw the government manufacture huge amounts of machinery that could lead to wealth - but the basic consumer needs and luxuries were never made
1
Tommaso D'Aquilio yeah, you worked. But not hard. People lied about their work to get over the set quotas. There’s a whole set of reasons the USSR didn’t work, the main problem is incentives.
1
He got $300 000?! Damn, that’s almost $200 billion.
1
Doug A it was an investment. I’m doubtful it was necessary, as he only was a online bookstore. But sure, write off his hard work and success because his family wasn’t financially unstable. He can’t from a middle class household, now he’s the richest man in the world. He should be inspiring, but sadly people prefer to pity their lack of action.
1
A majority of his wealth is in Amazon shares, so he cannot access a majority of the money. It also means that if he “just triples” workers wages Amazon would probably lose the majority of its bottom line and the stock price would plummet
