  2.  @markp9139  I think he means if an engine blows out then you have no redundancy. A plane can glide to the ground, and a helicopter will autorotate, the osprey can't do either to a sufficient degree. It's a good thing to point out, there is one problem though - the osprey performs a role no other vehicle can.

  3. The chinook is less than half the speed, about a third the range. The osprey is also capable of completing a wider range of missions.

  5. What would you replace it with? Helicopters are too slow and have too little range and cargo planes need a runway.
