@gustje0493 SpaceX won Government Contracts by offering the most promising products at the lowest prices.

Not a genius, but literally all of his companies are massive successes pushing the edge of engineering.

@gustje0493 “lOL nO” -🤡

Starship will replace Falcon 9 so I doubt they will work on a new Block.
1
A 3D printed rocket 😂 But no, the Shuttle was a terrible design. Way too expensive
1
Except they do 😂 One of their boosters has been reused 19 times

LEO is still space… And SpaceX rockets have launched many things to the moon. Technically they could have developed the Falcon Heavy to land people on the Moon but they wanted to be more ambitious
1
The Shuttle was shit

@williamhenry8914 the lifetime cost of the program was $1.6 billion/launch. NASA was predicting a 2 week turn around when they were first envisioning it, but it turned into a 3 month turnaround - held back especially because of the Challenger disaster. Speaking of disasters, the machine was a ticking time bomb. Challenger was avoidable, but it was going to happen anyway. For the 3 minutes after launch the crew on the Space Shuttle had no means of aborting. If the shuttle was damaged like in the Columbia disaster, there was no way for the crew to get back. It was the most deadly spacecraft to launch. Complete disaster, put NASA back decades. We could be on Mars by now.

It is sub orbital

lol, the Space Shuttke program ate up like $250 billion

Reusable rockets aren’t that much more expensive to build. And SpaceX can reuse their latest Falcon 9 Block 5’s 10+ times each. Other benefits of reusability is it allows you to launch at a much higher frequency, SpaceX has launch 100 rockets in the last 365 days, that would be impossible if they had to build a rocket each time. By the way every single launch landed successfully. Ultimately they undercut every other space company on the planet, so let that speak for itself…

Starship launches will not cost $200 million. They will be cheaper than Falcon 9 because of their simplified design and use of cheaper fuel/materials. Third-party estimates put the build cost of an expendable unit at $35-50 million, with reuse that price is bound to be lower.
1
And it will not take 210 launches to get to mars 😂. It will actually take less than the Moon because Mars’s atmosphere will provide almost all of the braking.
1
But now you’ve mentioned the SLS, I am required to remind you that the cost of launching SLS and Orion once is more than the entire sum of Money NASA is giving Space X to carry out Artemis 3 and 4.
1
Lol what?
1
NASA has been terribly run for decades.
1
The Buran was just a copy of the Space Shuttle
