  1. 2 launches of the SLS cost more than the entire funding that NASA has awarded SpaceX for Starship. This on top of the $12 billion in development costs for the SLS. No one wastes money better than NASA… well except the DoD

  2. The most complicated part is living there for 2 years. Getting there and back is relatively easy. Methane can be synthesised from the planet’s water and abundant CO2 to refuel the ship. Low gravity means you don’t need a massive booster like on Earth so the upper stage of the Starship will be able to do it itself.

  3.  @herrschaftg35  does it? It was meant to send a manned crew in orbit this year but that’s been delayed. NASA won’t launch a rocket that doesn’t complete its mission. That’s better for PR, but it makes the design process take longer and cost more. Starship being tested early is a great thing.

  4. If resisability didn’t save money, SpaceX wouldn’t be able to undercut every other company, nor would those companies be trying to replicate it for themselves.
