It’s called iterative design. SpaceX could spend a decade meticulously designing Starship, or they can rapidly build and test prototypes with big changes SpaceX can build these prototypes insanely cheap, so the approach isn’t as pretty, but it’s faster and cheaper.

@mathiaslist6705 the same guy who designed the V2 designed the Saturn V who took astronauts to the moon. The V2 also laid the groundwork for the Soviet space program, who took a lot of the designs

@Nomolyx1 😂

It’s like he has autism or something.

That’s pretty normal for business acquisitions. Stocks aren’t very liquid at large scales, so it’s better to draw down on debt and slowly pay them off. His debt will be at a very low interest rate.

@mathiaslist6705 yeah

SpaceX has launched and brought back over 50 people to and from space. Dragon is the safety capsule ever built, and it rises on top of the most reliable rocket ever built. What are you on about?

He has never spoken well, but I think he has noticeably worsened

@Irobert1115HD SLS was 6 years behind schedule and $12 billion over budget. And it literally couldn’t launch today if it wanted because it damaged its launch pad and it still hasn’t been fixed. And it is too expensive so NASA has moved all of its missions to other rockets and it is facing full cancellation.
1
@Irobert1115HD SpaceX’s entire R&D spending over its lifetime comes to about half of SLS’s development budget. So for the price of half of the SLS, SpaceX has developed Falcon 1, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, Starship, StarLink, Dragon 1 and Crew Dragon Which got better value for their money?

They’re doing much more than what the NASA engineers did in the 60s. Not only will it be way safer, way more capable, way cheaper, it also needs to be fully rapidly reusable which is incredibly hard. Not to take away what NASA did, because they had to contend with the technology of the time. But it’s a whole new can of worms

Phil, these are the sorts of geniuses that are on your side 😂
1
@ayushkadel1168 takes 30s to comment, takes hours to create a video. Who’s more affected? Though let’s be fair, Thunderf00t does it for money
1
Starship isn’t even the critical path. It’ll be ready well before SLS/Orion are
1
@Irobert1115HD actually SLS isn’t ready, its launchpad is still damaged from Artemis 1. And no the problems aren’t the same, because SpaceX can work way faster than Lockheed Martin.
1
@Irobert1115HD yeah Starship tore up its launch pad. But SpaceX had it fully repaired and upgraded with a deluge system in 6 months SLS damaged its launch pad back in 2022 and it still hasn’t been repaired That’s the difference between SpaceX and NASA.

What are you on about?
1
Except it wasn’t left out, they test fired the engine in that exact configuration. But I don’t blame you, even the CEO of ULA got that wrong. SpaceX is truly spectacular, denying that is just ridiculous at this point
1
It was quite recently, and his claim was that he could do it for way cheaper than a proposal someone made. Not that he would do it
