  1. At the end he expands p^2 - 1 into (p+1)(p-1). He then showed this on a number line an concluded that it is a multiple of 3 and 8, and this is a multiple of 24. Factorising the quadratic, using FOIL, we get p^2 + p - p - 1. That simplifies to p^2 - 1. So affair we get is that p^2 -1 is a multiple of 3 and 8, and thus it’s a multiple of 24
