No president could have prevented a outbreak of COVID-19 in the US

Brian Van Horne you can’t enforce wearing a mask, that’s something that can only really be done by the states. He could have recommended it - but remember back then even the CDC and WHO (wrongly) said that face coverings weren’t very effective. And trump doesn’t need to wear a mask as he and everyone around him is tested daily for the virus. There is no reason to wear one - especially because their main purpose is to stop the host from spreading.

Brian Van Horne the only way to have stopped this virus was a national lockdown. The president cannot do that, and even if he could, enforcing a lockdown on 350 million people would almost be impossible. For that reason it was inevitable.

Just Saying Ive read parts of Obama’s Preparedness Plan, it doesn’t talk at all about lockdowns, however it does talk about preparation. I believe if he did follow it trump could have prevented the first wave - but that’s just delaying the inevitable.

Just Saying seeing as almost every country in the world each contacted the disease I find it extremely unlikely. The WHO denied that it could spread from human to human, and on February 29th, they said “WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.” Calling them ineffective. https://www.who.int/news-room/articles-detail/updated-who-recommendations-for-international-traffic-in-relation-to-covid-19-outbreak On top of that, the US knew very little about COVID-19. They didn’t know it’s severity or how contagious it was back in November, seeing as it wasn’t even discovered until December 30th! 16 days later, 16 days of denial from the Chinese government and the WHO, the first covid case landed in the US. Unless god himself became the president it’s pretty safe to say no one could have stopped the outbreak.
