Yeah that was weird

Those two incidents aren't even similar The ball off of Aaron Smith definitely went backwards, and Carbery definitely lost control

It's a northern hemisphere ref if you are thinking it's southern bias
1
@racingblonde it's a NH ref you drunk

You either need control of the ball, or downwards pressure. That's why his try was disallowed. The tackle might have been high, it was 50/50 to me. It was around the shoulders. The only issue was it possibly being a "seatbelt" tackle, but it started below the shoulder, slipped up and then fell to his back. High tackles are a mess, there's no consistent method with determining whether a tackle is high, there's so many edge cases, mitigation factors, whether the arm slipped, whether pressure was applied.

@jjryan9480 Law 21.1 The ball can be grounded in in-goal: - By holding it and touching the ground with it; or - By pressing down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of the player’s body from waist to neck. In short, either you are in control and it touches the ground, or you apply pressure. He did neither, so no try

@jjryan9480 separation is seperate. If the ball separates and isn't retrieved it's a knock on so again no try. So to sum it up the process when a ball touches the in-goal goes: Was the player holding the ball? If not was there separation? If not was there downwards pressure?

No one's arguing against that. Beauden Barrett is a brilliant player, best 10 we've had since Carter

Both times the Irish player lost control. I think they need to learn how to hold onto it a bit better

They had COVID

@rogerpattube inconsequential. Ain't no one going to stop the AB
1
@tamaliona685 it's hard to tell sometimes because he does nothing, but if you see the ref call knock on you will probably see him
1
He lost control

Aaron Smith is who we were missing last year. No one can pass like him

If you pass the ball back and the ball bounces forwards, it's not a knock in because the initial pass is back It's one of those edge cases that's not in the books explicitly, but is implied. Law 11.3 says a player cannot intentionally knock the ball forward. He knocked it backwards and even though it bounced forward it isn't a knock on.
