Because Wyoming has so many less voters. Even when they are worth 2.5x more, they are still pretty unsubstantial.

How have the last 2 dems. How have the last few presidents?
2
Artemis Ameretsu because appealing to almost 40 states is easier than the top 11
2
Isn’t that normal, failing businesses downsizing?
1
Because you vote for the electoral college
1
You only need to win 11 states to win. Without the electoral college you would only need to get 9
1
Winner takes all isn’t a bad system, it makes states worth more. It pretty much decides the country into 50 smaller popular vote elections
1
That’s not true
1
Yes. You just need the majority of electoral votes. Most countries have a system to stop big states abusing power, for example my country Australia (although not a republic) has 2 houses, the lower house getting seats based on the population of the state, and the other house getting 12 seats from each state. It’s not making votes useless, a candidate can win even if every state except the big 11 vote them in.
1
Instead the whole term would be one large roadblock. Australia has that system, where the Senate and House of Representatives are voted differently. Many times two different parties get in, and it’s great that it stops abuse, it also means nothing gets done.

Senor Dockman because hillary didn’t win?
1
For getting voted for?
1
Boo hoo
1
California won by 4 million? Should 1 state really decide who wins? If there was no system like this, both parties would appeal to the biggest states.
1
It’s still the majority vote that rules, it’s just scaled to stop abuse
1
Good, it takes more than a brain dead proposal to change the constitution. Or we become Russia where Putin has changed the constitution to allow him to be president until he dies
1
Memphis Stef yes, but nit meaningless. That’s the point of the electoral college
1
Chris L he’s blacked for his sake! How dear you despise him.
1
If it didn’t work we would have Hillary
1
Because it stops presidents focusing on the bigger states. It stops what is called “the dictatorship of the majority states”
1
Maybe it should be up to the candidate to push their campaign that will get voters instead of asking voters at each turn. What happens during the presidency, is the president going to start putting out referendums for every bill they try to pass. At that point America should just become a true democracy
