  3. In Osaka it hardly gets down to freezing, I think we saw snowflakes twice in three years. I’m glad I didn’t live in Northern Japan. Where I live in Canada now it gets down to -45celsius and it’s awful 😂

  6. Great reply. My apartment in Kobe had cracks in the concrete walls from the major 1995 earthquake and none of my apartments over the years had insulation. Maybe a good thing because the apartment below us caught fire and it didn’t spread to other units so we were all able to get out and didn’t lose our belongings.

  7. We would have to be way more careful of carbon monoxide poisoning since it’s gets way colder here. I had one when I lived in Japan and one warmed my entire apartment. Here, it would warm a corner or a room on really cold days.

  8. It’s as varied as from Florida to New York depending on how far south or how far north you are. In Osaka it hardly reaches freezing so Japan has most climates. Few buildings have insulation and I never saw a fireplace during my years in Japan but I was never in the north.
