What I don't get is why they didn't run the old parts in a parts washer before reassembly... I would never reinstall the old dirty parts to the new short block. Also, why not polish the headlights to make them look like new? Literally a 15 minute job.

You're supposed to fill half of the oil through the fill hole and half of it through the oil filter hole, then wait for 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure 99,9% of mechanics won't follow the correct procedure and run the engine half dry on startup.

@mbc1994 The engine has many cavities and even a small amount of time running without lubrication is damaging in a high performance engine.

@mbc1994 I guess you know better than the techs who designed the engines then. You should start an oil change business.

@mbc1994 For the second time I did not say technicians, technical engineers design engines. If the manufacturer sees the trouble to recommend a procedure, it has a technical reasoning. Most likely some oil channels won't fill up with oil fast enough as you're supposed to wait for 15 minutes for the oil to settle even with this method.

@kcb55 Show me the WIS document yourself as you seem to know better.

@kcb55 Heh right, And what's the oil capacity for the M113 V8?

I love how that oil looks like and I know that a quart of it costs as much as 4 quarts of Mobil 1 which it essentially is lol.

I have a 2003 S500L 4-matic as a second car, it is still a sweet ride but starts to need more care year by year...

Then why all the Toyotas look like a bad science fiction cartoon?
