  1. Venereal diseases were redefined as STD's or Sexually Trasmitted Diseases. This was not inclusive enough. People who were infected with the HIV virus do not have a disease, they now have an STI or Sexually Transmitted Infection. Does that mean that when somone gets infected with Syphilis , Gonorrhea, Herpes, HIV 1 or HIV2 , and now MPox (Monkey Pox) now only have an infection sort of like the common cold? We have been hearing about condoms being promoted in public elementary schools for 20 years, why are there even more of these sexually transmiitted infections? There are now over 60 different sexually transmitted infections in the USA.
