  1. I found the same issues when I worked as an employee. I now work for myself as an independent sub contractor. There are many advantages and few disadvantages. I no longer attend meetings, HR inanities or file periodic reports or "updates" on my activities. When I submit my work, my bills must be paid within 30 days or will send them to collections. I am not a bank. I do not accept "Attaboys" or "coulda, shoulda and woulda" excuses about sales, the market or downsizing -layoffs. I will not sign a Non compete or NDA contract. The results I produce must be paid and I will work for anyone including the "competition". I am loyal only to myself. No "teamwork" or "family" atmosphere. At a certain age you can set up your own self funded retirement program with its tax advantages. I have my own medical and dental as well. My "vacation and sick" benefits are what I get when I have no clients. What are the "benefits" I am missing? Sick pay, vacation pay, 401 k pension plans, rights to overtime and a somewhat predictable income stream that can end with a short notice. I learned that when you are actually productive, people will promptly pay for your work. You can never offer any excuses for less than excellent quality and productivity for your labor.

  2. You got that right. HR is nothing but a "sewing circle" where "Boss babes" can pretend to be important. Work for yourself and watch the hens cackle and peck at themselves.
