  1. I learned the same lesson initially with commercial security cameras ( 1980's) and later consumer camcorders also including VCR's. Repair depots could not get even the simplest parts unless ALL PARTS of the camera to be repaired were submitted to the manufacturer. The manufacturers did not want anyone disassembling and reusing components. This included hardware parts such as fasteners, connectors, filters and power supplies. Now look at the CCTV and camcorder business. Who repairs these devices today?
