  1. Your comments remind me of the history of the battle of Stalingrad. Soviet infantry started to be become over run by advancing German troops. Stalin ordered a second flank of infantry soldiers behind the front flank. The orders were to shoot any Soviet soldier who took any step backward. As the number of male soldiers declined ( killed or wounded) , women who were not trained as soldiers used makeshift weapons to also confront the Germans. It is unknown how many Soviet soldiers were killed by their own men. The statue The Motherland Calls located in present day Volgograd is one of the tallest monuments in the world. The battle of Stalingrad is listed as the bloodiest battle during World War II.
