I have planned some remodeling and updating, The highest costs are the hourly wages and not just materials. I am going to wait this out until the hourly wages drop before I have the work done. Our local hourly price are 2.5-3 times more than ten years ago.

@JD-co4nq I know. I had former real estate brokers begging to mow my lawns and I hired them. They can be excellent workers until they catch a whiff of a new housing bubble. Than its "Off to blowing bubbles"--> Song from 1919 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8epPksKZ7U

I don't like the idea of paying $25+ /hour for a man to pick up discarded materials from a roofing job. Instead I will "pay myself" $25/hour to actually get the job done with no injuries, no whining and no coffee breaks. My next door neighbor is experiencing the same problems. In our area within the past 2 years nine large custom houses ( over 4,000 sq feet) were built and this only increases our comps CMV beyond any expectations. The result all of us our remodeling but some of us will need to wait until the woke moon shot hourly rates drop to normal.

@michaeloconnor6683 Excellent! I am in the same situation. In 2012 workers would be happy to actually perform their trades and I would have them at my door begging for any work. Today, Rarely do they show up for appointments and whine about the smallest issues. I am doing their jobs unless I don't have the expertise ( trusses, roofing, remodels) but will delay until the workers want to work and hourly prices are normalized. How long can I wait? As long as it takes. I paid off my 2012 new mortgage in ten years and have plenty of time and money to wait it out. I never thought carpenters would be "Woke" since you can't swing a hammer working online ZOOM ha ha ha.
