I agree with your research, but what can each of us do to alleviate the fact that we are spending so much of our time to pay taxes which are used to pay government employees to subjugate us under the regulations, rules and procedures that they make up for...Themselves. I have endured many tax audits and every single time I was informed that I paid too much taxes. Just fill out this form ( 1040X) and you get money back? Liar liar pants on fire. This is another trick to audit you under different algos, and onerous policies that they make up according to their own whims. Has any IRS employee been arrested and convicted for LYING? Never! Over 92,000 IRS employees and ALL are "honest' and NEVER LIED to a taxpayer? The Number one goal is NEVER tax compliance, but Extraction of money and assets "by any means necessary". Each agent has a quota that they call "Goals". I solved this waste of time and energy by quitting my high paid job and am now unemployed. I suggest that EACH of us who works in a non government job quit as well. Less work, lower income and less money for these "tax compliance" insiders. They can only attempt to screw over the "little guy" more than they already are ( including the so-called short forms, where legal tax avoidance is never part of the forms ) . How am I today? Fine. I just pay a tax attorney on retainer to advise me on how and when to spend every dime I have. These people help write the tax laws and pay the legal tithing to the politicians on the many Tax committees in what some refer to as "campaign contributions" or "Constituent service". Look up these terms and you will see what it really is. The whole system can be limited by giving up on the Collectivist state we have today when each of us is responsible for our own lives instead of relying on bureaucrats who care ONLY about their own miserable lives taxing the work of others.
