  1. Most European cities were built before, around and after the Middle ages. So the cities weren't built for cars.

  2.  @strizzimusic  I said 'most' not all, but I do know war destroyed cities or urban development or redesign.

  3.  @strizzimusic  the street design is similar, also cars weren't present in great quantities before World War II. And it would still take a while after 1500 before the car was invented. Remember all the cities fires?
