  1. Actually most studies show that the people working 10-12 hour shifts are much less lonely than their counterparts working 4-8 hours. When your free time feels limited you are more likely to spend what little of it with coworkers at the bar or going to a baseball game with some friends instead of watching TV. Poverty and the need to sustain daily survival have historically been the the biggest drivers of communities and social interactions. The word "loneliness" didn't even exist until the 1800s when for the first time people became able to sustain their livelihood by themselves. Loneliness isn't a product of scarcity, it's the result of abundance.
