  1.  @MichaelSmith-fj7di  Some of these need reform but others are just naive wishes: Justice system is way too broad, what specifically? The electoral college represents the federalist system that is the United STATES, representing the quasi sovereignty of the states. Ranked choice added to the process could make sense but beyond that the electoral college still has its place in the US. There are legitimate grievance among the people in Washington DC and the territories, but Washington DC was a swamp when it was chosen to be the US capital. It was specifically chosen at the founding of the US to be a federally controlled district, not a state, and it was chosen in an area where nobody lived. People moved to DC knowing its special status and lack of congressional representation, it wasn't imposed in DC residents, they or their ancestors moved there despite its special status. And until recently a majority of Puerto Ricans wanted to remain as a commonwealth, neither a state or become independent. And even now its arguably only a plurality or barely a majority of Puerto Ricans that want to be a state. Their lack of representation as a state is due to indecision among the local population. Also the other other territories are just too small plus they get special perks from being a territory like American Somoa only allowing people at least 50% Somoan to own land, which would be super unconstitutional if they were to become a state. Minimum wage: Placing the burden of what should be society's/government job on employers is unfair, inefficient, and damaging to small businesses, while also only discouraging additional employment of low skilled workers - a law firm or wall street investment firm ain't gonna be affected by minimum wage hikes. If people cant make enough to pay for basic necessities it should be the gov who takes care of those needs, thats literally what taxes are for. Presidential qualifications: lmao good luck coming up with something that wont immediately be abused for political goals and could ever be passed Paid vacation/Maternity leave: resources are finite, there is no such thing as being paid to not work, it simply comes out your paycheck from the hours you were working. If you want to have cash while on leave then save up, there is no temp goblin that comes out of the walls to continue your levels of productivity while you're away. War on drugs: which drugs? If its weed definitely, but what about cocaine or heroin. And if they are made legal who pays for rehab and other inevitable expenses. Are a majority of voters really gonna be okay shifting money that could have gone to education or defense or stayed in their pockets to help a guy that was told 1000 times dont smoke crack? The other things though I agree with and do need reform and investment
