Honestly i don’t understand the wide adoption that much, i think as a in between assaults rifle/machine gun this could make a lot of sense to equip one or two members of the squad with such weapons, but a whole squad with that seems like they will lose a lot of versatility in CQB, and the gun will probably be harder to carry thus creating more fatigue amongs troops. I like what the French did with their HK416, upgrading their old platform to something more reliable and capable while still being coherent with the typical engagement distance you would expect.
