It explains a lot about core count growth, everytime DDR get a gen upgrade we see more cores coming to the general public, DDR5 just started to enter the market and we are already seeing some very big increases in cores count across the board. Also the tricky part for software engineers is to implement multithreaded operations when it make sense, but the even trickiest part is to be able to make sure that those multithreaded designed software scales properly with the average computer, because if you write a software that’s really optimised for CPU above eight or twelve cores, your letting a huge part of the user base with a bad experience.
