it's hard to say whether or not having more intelligent people would really improve people's life, I'm part of the top 2% of the distribution and during college i had to work at MacDonald to pay my rent. It was absolutely dreadful, i felt miserable working there, there was no room for creativity, or anything interesting, but it gave me a lot of sensible insights, one of the thing that i noticed is that the less """""intelligent"""" , a coworker/manager, was the happier they were with their current situation. Which lead me to believe that increasing the average IQ would on the short-term make a lot of people miserable because they would have to wait for society to automate those """lower-end""", jobs before they could do a job that's more suited for their IQ.
