  1. according to my research and reading the accounts of other people potato genetics is a wild card. when potato reproduces sexually through seed the seeds are genetically all over the place. so potatoes have the potential to be the most versatile crop in human history. with enough time they can be made to grow in any climate because of this genetic variance. of course you can still clone good plants with the tubers. but the seeds will always be different from the mother never true to seed.
