Just one correction. Ukraine joining NATO is NOT an existential threat in the eyes of Putin. If it was then his reaction of Finland joining NATO would have been much stronger. Again this war never was about NATO but about expansion/restoration of the territory the former Soviet Union had. A second reason is that having a former Soviet state becoming a western oriented economic success story right next door will undermine Putin's position in his own country.

The fall-out was to create an excuse for stopping military support and thus forcing Ukraine to capitulate.

Just in: The US is thinking about lifting the sanctions in Russia! Wow! The Americans keep surprising in a bad way.

I think that Trump also doesn't have a plan. He is, just like Putin, more an opportunist than a strategist.

@CyberBeep_kenshi If it were then only to keep Ukraine and the rest of Europe from getting it but that's a weak argument. Chechnya had nothing to do with resources. Georgia had nothing to do with resources. Moldova had nothing to do with resources. See the pattern?

Looks like he's even looking for a fight with his allies.

@alexanderrobertson1371 It's baffling that after all we've witnessed you still believe anything Trumps says.

Even Putin's non-nuclear threat is fake.

@horrisnorris6478 Fact is that that is absolute BS. You are simply repeating Russian propaganda.

@martinluescher5009 Russia has never been aligned with Europe. The selling of gas had two two goals. One to make money and create a war chess. Two to have leverage over Europe when Russia invaded Ukraine. Remember that Putin was already planning to invade Ukraine as far back as 2008. It was no coincidence that he increased gas prices back in 2021 ahead of the 2022 invasion. It was in an effort to divide Europe.

@ACGBLR Nice try comrade but YOU are wrong.

Still talking about that propaganda missile? 🙄 Looks like it did more damage in the western media than it physically did.

Only Ukraine has a say in this. Ukraine is ramping up domestic weapons production so they can give Trump the finger if they have to.
