The West will make sure Putin will pay a heavy price for invading Ukraine. Maybe Putin should wonder why so many former Soviet countries like Poland have joint NATO. Because they have experienced the Russian occupation and don't want that again. NATO is not expanding, more countries are simply joining! Out of free choice! Another term Russians are not familiar with. The countries of the Russian federation are either conquered (Chechnya) or held hostage (Belarus). No country wants to join the Russian Federation out of free will. Putin has been trying to conquer different countries with the same strategy: (1) Stir things up in that country and rally a group of people to proclaim an independent state. (2) Give those people a Russian passport. (3) Recognize that area as an independent state. (4) Invade that area under the false flag that you have to protect the 'Russian' minority. Sounds familiar? The West looked away when Russia invaded Crimea (a big mistake) but will not sit idle while it tries to invade Ukraine.
