As per Indian law you lose your caste status if you convert your religion from Hinduism. Because avcording to converts conversions were done mainly due to caste suppression. Now most of the kuki Community have converted still they are having caste benifits but the local methie who haven't converted were deprived of their caste status by the British and later by Congress despite meties demands they were ignored. As per Indian law it is illegal to have caste benifits post concersion. Still they did not remove caste benifits of kuki but why are the kukies worried if meties community also get their caste benifits? It is the kuki creating this riots and few ugly seperatist foreign missionaries ( not all missionaries but few divisive ones with seperatist mindset) are bringing religion into this to make it look like a religious riots.

@Conn_0088 as per sources it says that the meties have been demanding st status since 1950 because while the constitution was drafted in 1950 the meties were left out of st status.

1950 constitution drafted witnessed several other malpractice. Minority special provisions is against equality before law art 14 of the Indian constitution too. Before drafting the constitution they decided to have equal law for all but how did art 30 (1) and 30 come into the Indian constitution? Who did this? Answer the foreign missionaries did this.
