We need a national language. Since hindi is spoke by majorty accept hindi. If not another option is sanskrit used to be ancient language of India so use that as national language.

Then how is it possible to bring sanskirt? Hindi is understood by majorty so that is more convenient. Bringing sanskrit will be big task for all. But I have no issues with sanskrit as national language.

So far there is no proper reason given by people who dont want hindi national language. Most of their arguments revolves around same points like 1) it is disrespectful to other languages. My counter was no. Because hindi is not an ethnic language whereas others all are ethnic languages. If you promote one ethnic language then others will oppose. The idea of one national language is to bring unity so that it will contribute to welfare of people and development. 2) English is good for unity. My counter was English is colonial language. No strong nations/ strong developing nations kept colonial language as national language. Why shouldnt india follow path of every other strong nations/ developing nations? 3) india cannot immiate other strong/ developing nations because India is multi culture having many ethics culture. My counter was : every other strong/ developing nations have/ had multi culture. China have 66 different ethnic cultures but didnt china implement a national language? 4) without English you cannot excel in science& tech. My counter was : how about Germany France Russia China Singapore Japan isreal etc etc etc they all have a national language excell in science & tech then why shouldn't India have hindi as national language? 5) diversity is needed. With national language who cannot strengethen diversity. My counter was : Isn't France Germany Spain Italy Norway Japan Singapore south Korea etcetc all diversity? Anawer = yes but they all have 1 national language then why not India? The arguments revolved around these 5 points repeatedly like 1, 2,3,4,5 then again back to 1,2,3,4,5 then again repeat repeat. This is circular argument.

Because without a united India you cannot protect your mother tongue if invaded by foreign forces. We are able to sit and discuss politics because you have a definite territory guarded by Indian army ( one such soldier got killed in Tamil nadu recently by dmk). See mothertongue will not leave. It will always be with us. That is not going change. But to recognize one national language is important. My point all must learn hindi for unity as national language. Because every nation has one national language. I mean all strong nations. Thefore india too need. That's the way to move forward. To get job in Tamil nadu we must learn Tamil too. But hindi should also be given some importance for the sake of national interest just like every other nations are doing we too should do. Now I wish to show you some raw truth that you can find out in introduction part of Google itself. Its very easy to find out the list of democratic nations having "fedral state law" you will find all poweful democratic nations having no fedral state law. Meanwhile if you look into democracies having internal problems "most" of them will have a "federal state law" one is India. Once upon a time even Soviet union had federal state law that caused the split. In federal state law the state cm will get independent power agsinst center. Here centre cannot intervene into state affairs. This will pose risk into national security and integrity if state Cm is affiliated to "seperatist parties". For eg in tn kerela and many states where opposition in power they use non state actors/ fringe forces to hurt national security eg pfi/ sdpi remember? It is very hard to track them and eradicate because the states provide safe haven to these groups. Now prioritizing language is mean to cause division using sentiments ( mother tongue) to protect the agenda of the political party. Here in the name of "language" they will slowly reverse the culture of that language. Culture will be dropped. This is what they are doing inside India. To back them up they have big support from foreign NGOs who fund these activities using powerful institutions of "democratic forum" to turn it against your own nation.

In this I don't think there is need to use a chicken biriyani logic. Because if you go by chicken biriyani logic then preference of people will be many. So in election per states per union territories will have crores of leaders which will end in chaos and welfare of people will become doomed. So please argue on basis of democracy. If you promote 1 national language then there will be unity and no fight to promote ones own ethnic language. Otherwise India since 1949 till 2025 always fought on basis of language. And before 2014 the fight on basis of linguistic dominance was more prevalent and worst than now. Now atlest BJP is in power so all opposition have united to form indi alliance so in some way for some cause they have kept aside the intestate fights on basis of language promotion to fight against BJP so because of BJP there is some kind of unity as a result. Before 2014 in Tamil nadu the malayali community were targeted during mullaperriyar issue. Telugu and kanadiga people were targeted in Tamil nadu during caveri issue and vice versa till before 2014 so it was much worst. So to prevent all these only we need 1 national language. This will improves lives of people if fights are reduced.

Using English ( a colonial language) to protect local language is like letting colonial influence in which is not ethical and moreover that's a poor defense to argue that English can protect a language of another sovereign nation.

You are sharpening an already sharp weapon by trying to give additional safeguard while there are other areas vulnerable having no protection of law. No languages are suppressed.

It will become like exorcism side effects. So that will be too much to handle. Hindi is safer because it is not an ethnic or cultural language. Sanskrit is cultural language. Many democracies like Japan south Korea etc do not have "state fedral law" why because to minimize corruption and contribute to betterment of lives of people and nation as whole therefore they developed faster. South Korea got independence later to India but today where they are and where is india? This is because they restricted to certain extent ",diversity" by not letting in "federal state law". So now you need to question yourself that "is diversity more important or is betterment of lives of people more important?". 70+ years post independence still bharath couldnt remove poverty. This is due to fedral state law, no unity. South Korea Japan isreal France take any strong democracies for instance none has a fedral state law. All have a unity + diversity + a national language. So why not India also have strong unity taking good things from them for development in right path?

@mrs9305 English is just a language. All languages have a words in it that can translate English. To tell that without English you cannot excell in science and tech includes Ai is poor argument.

@saifkaree1 Arian draviduan is pure politcs used by britush to divide and rule which is today used by politicians. Earlier British divided today our politicians divide. There is no evidence of Tamil older than sanskrit. Infact the aryan invasion propagandist who earlier mentioned Tamil older than sanskrit are today accepting sanskrit older than Tamil. So all are politcs. "There was no united india" alright today we have. Every nations had division in past. Every nations faced invasions. Every strong nations later accepted changes to support for betterment of liber of people and development then why not bharath? Under the bharatha tribes bharath was united that's in vedic age.

@tsMuthuraman-hm6wg we can teach Tamil bojpuri kanada telugu etc in schools but let's give property to lives of people and betterment first more than ethnic languages. For this we need unity..for unity we need a common national language. Just learn that language understand is enough. The point is whole India must know that language we need not have to get any degree in it. Just for unity we need it that's all.

@ulaganathanc1463 but the point of discussion is rule out colonial languages. We got independence isnt it? Then why do we need colonial language again? Do they respect you? Answer = no. Then why? Why cant we do what other strong developing/ developed nations did and take it as an example become indigenous? Jobs will come when you put your house in order. But what we promoting is pushing our own nation into corruption and running to foreign nations to settle there and at some point of time we get kicked out from there also. Respect starts from home.

@tsMuthuraman-hm6wg you teach everything in school including bojpuri etc etc. But learn hindi just for sake of knowing it. We sang national anthem in schools without a degree. Just like that we should one national language. The idea is to unite. It's not about old or oldest etc. It just for sake of unity in real sense so that it will later start contributing in day to day lives of people when that unity starts producing result in form of development. First unity is needed. If the house is chaotic how will peace be there?

"Feeling that we are one politically" politically? Politcs will ruin everything just like it did over past many decades in India. Without patriotism your nation will not survive. It will get invaded. All poweful nations are patriotic. Patriotism is must. Russian historian "if you dont feed your soldiers, you will have to feed someother nation's soldiers..."

@tsMuthuraman-hm6wg If ones own language is promoted means then that is not patriotism but "separatism". Promoting ones own language is not possible because other states will rise agsinst it. But promoting a majorty known language is possible only in a united country.

@nobinaveen5092 hindi is not a north Indian ethnic language. It is just a common language known to many. It's a derivative of sanskrit. It is not ethnic language like kanada telugu Tamil etc. I'm a south Indian too. I support for national language so that we can have unity. If not there will always be fight between states on basis of language and there wont be peace and development.

But using hindi as national language it is induan language + non ethnic language. So no mocking only uniting all into one.

My point is you can learn science English whatever you want but hindi is just a language to unite as national language. We are not going to speak hindi forever. We are going to talk in Tamil English. But we all will know to talk in hindi just like we know national anthem.

If you want to go study there then you have to learn not English but Russian French mandrian German. These are are all repeated arguments. Come up with better argument different from previous.

@vijay65922 actually not. They say we are united by multiple languages but we are divided since 1949 till 2025. One is trying to implement Tamil. Immediately other state wants kanada then telugu starts demanding telugu and so on and on this drama there since 1949. Now since BJP in power these opposition politicians are not clashing within somehow to keep indi mahagatbandan Alive. Otherwise in Tamil nadu once me as malayali we used to feel threatened by dmk wanting to chase malayalies out due to mullaperiyar issue. See other strong nations learn from them and understand why they all have unity in culture, language, etc etc why are Indians glorifying everthing that are false?
