@Sub-km4nk They are all accomplished, though Dewey is mostly regarded in the US, especially given the fledgling nature of the US navy at the time he served. The likes of Yamamoto are probably more famous outside the US, but Nelson seems to trump them all, known worldwide and studied by officers in every navy of any note since.

@adamk.7177 In honour of Nelson I am tapping an admiral right now.

@clementl.9566 Not really the most famous, except to Americans. Nelson still has the greater notoriety, in a positive sense unless you are French! Nimitz is well-known outside the US, but not like Nelson. Time might well change that, but hasn't yet.

@pyromania1018 There is a question as to who exactly scored the fatal hit on Nelson, and the killing of Nelson hardly helped the French at Trafalgar.

The Fighting Temeraire hangs on my wall (a copy, naturally), and does well illustrate the move from the time of sail to the more industrial era of steamships. The painting is almost a complete fiction, but I love it.

Prince Regent: "That's a strange getup you're wearing there, Blackadder " Blackadder ""Yes...I'm off to a fancy dress ball, I'm going as Lady Hamilton's pussy!"

The post-Melsonperiod wasn't so grand. She is an interesting character, but likely never to be held in high regard.

The main audience is American. About the only Indian they know might by Gandhi, his name and little else.

How is that relevant? OK, you hate Trump, but it doesn't make you a better person by advertising your hatred.

Those Jacobins definitely otherwise! Heads rolled.
