My cousin married a Bengali Hindu and my brother's daughter's mother in law is a Jewish Indian from Kerala. There seems to be a real affinity between Jews and Indians. Ethnically our family is way more diverse than I was growing up where all my relatives were Jews from Eastern Europe.

An interesting postscript is that in the nationalist Italian army that conquered Rome, was Edgardo Montaro's brother who went into the Vatican, rifle in hand, hoping to liberate his brother. Unfortunately, when he found his brother, Edgardo was unwilling to leave the Vatican or his adopted religion.

My cousin lived in China for many years and did visit the Jews of Kaifang. He also assisted an emissary from Lubavitch (who had no Chinese language skills) in setting up services in his city in Canton province. While as the film states Judaism is not a recognized religion in China, the authorities were not bothered if obviously non Chinese people were taking part. When local Chinese people became interested and started to go to these services, it was another matter.

When the Roman wars against the Jews are usually depicted, the Jewish military victories are almost never mentioned. The victory at Beth Horan is largely unknown and while the slaughter of the populace is widely known, the many Jewish military successes in defense of Jerusalem leading up to this event are omitted.

Love it that you use the music from "I Claudius" where Agrippa was depicted as Claudius's long time friend.

As is well known Alexander Hamilton received his formative education at a Jewish school in the West Indies.

@alamgiral-qidwa6067 If you just used the term niece it can also refer to a niece by marriage which is no blood relation to me. That's the reason I didn't use that term.

@sanjay.t.gowrisunkur4055 We just had a Bat Mitzvah for my cousin Rina (Both a Hebrew and Indian name!) and had standard American but for the second more informal get together it was Indian. No Gefilte Fish.

I hope you continue the Dreyfus story which is extremely interesting post pardon.

In the Hollywood movie Barabas there is a armed action that was obviously based on the Battle of Beit Horon in the Jewish War.

@historicalminds6812 Not so true today as before especially in countries like the US- but Judaism never brought the scourge of aggressive proselytizing the way the Christians did,

@sanjay.t.gowrisunkur4055 Hope you didn't eat it plain - need to eat it with strong horse radish.

Based on their earlier attitude it makes sense that the Japanese prevented Germans in WWII against taking action against the Jews in Singapore, since the leader of the Jews claimed that the Germans were against them since they were Asians, like the Japanese.

The ebbs and falls of the Jews in the Roman period seem to be ignored after the Bar Kochba revolt by Jewish educators.

I went to day camp in Boston at the Young Men's Hebrew Association (YMHA).

It seems that you did not refer the armed Iraqi rebellion after World War I that preceded the agreements you refer to and cost up to a thousand British deaths, and many more Arab fatalities.

Think you should have used another Cleveland player in your Baseball example, Al "Flip" Rosen, rather than Lou Bodreau, who was barely a Jew, and never identified as Jewish in his life.

@KING OF OUTER SPACE Though its interesting -since there are not a lot of Jews in India - my cousin's Indian family compared Judaism of being sort of like Islam. which is true in a lot of ways.
