I'm not a British , but I can make some general remarks about stated ideas in the video.
First , talk about democracy , particularly "direct democracy". Any type of functioning democracy has to have properly politically educated , properly informed and politically active , or at least somewhat engaged adult population. Otherwise , it is just a facade and rulers get to do whatever they want. I mean (with extremely rare and occasional exception) - representatives of the people (commons in UK parliamentary system) ARE part of ruling class and general population is very misinformed (propagandized) . Direct democracy would require to cancel political parties , because direct democracy excludes particular interests and introduce common interests (in broadest terms) . Since educational system is flawed (intentionally) and most of parents/custodians of young generations are indoctrinated (keep your head down and your nose clean) - there is a little chance to get a generation of free thinkers and "common goal action" people. For that - you'll need a total collapse of a system (think Oliver Cromwell) and/or great catastrophe (like WW II was) to change overall "ethos" among the people. Bear in mind , British population isn't cohesive like it was after WW II , not even near and for achieving common interest , you need to have minimal common denominator .
Here is a story about Aristotel and his view of democracy. One day he walked with his students in the outskirts of Athens and someone asked him what he thinks about democracy. Aristotel calmly turned around and pointed in the direction of simple three sheep herders near by and said : as long as those three can outvote ME , I don't like the democracy.
System I would prefer would be meritocracy (of course , with strong morality and some sort of public control of justice - and I mean justice , not law). Freedom of speech is a MUST (paired with criminal responsibility for any public statement) for any properly functioning society. Though , people can be perfectly happy in authoritarian countries (even absolutist countries), as long as they're lucky to have responsible man/people on the top.
On the point of Energy - it is dependent of the part of the world one is living in (country) , but , in UK (at the moment) you're being robbed blind. Otherwise , I mostly agree with you and people should reject this new green religion a.s.a.p. Of course , humans caused a lot of pollution which affects almost all living things , including humans themselves and we should change our ways to more sustainable ones , by natural progress , not by administrative measures . People messed with nature a lot - but , for sure , there is nothing we can do about the climate change , besides preparing as best as we can. We can talk about "fighting climate change" , as soon as someone manage to stop ordinary flood , or earthquake (localized events). Until then , we can not deal with planetary processes (like global warming , or switching of the magnetic poles...) which happened a few times before humans even existed .
I understand that you're "cheering" for military funds (as a former military man) , but we should unpack that idea. What do countries need armies (military I mean) for ? General answer would be -for defense . Now , GB is/was colonial power , therefore , military is needed for purposes other than defense also. If we look at the first part (defense) , logical question would be - against who ? Who would have a reason to attack (or invade) GB ? The answer is - no one (emotional historic old grudges aren't real reasons) . Never mind the NATO alliance - no one even remotely in the neighborhood would have such interest and not even forever evil baddies - Russians (to the contrary of what UK media writes and says about that subject , for a century now).
That leaves the other part - colonial engagement. In practice , that means (as things are standing now) that HM military would be engaged in US private projects , like Afghanistan , Iraq , Libya or , before that Yugoslavia. There is no benefit for the people of GB , or the crown - except very small number of people which benefits from arms contracts . GB's tax payers will bear the expense of such excursion. On it's own , GB military can't do anything of significance (yes , it can do a significant damage to the countries with inferior military potential in a global south , but those countries rapidly acquire new , powerful friends) , but no new colonies , especially not ones with some vital (strategic) resources. More funding for military , doesn't mean that said military would be better and/or larger - it probably means that weapons would get more expensive and some more toys for the navy would be built (never mind that there is not enough people to populate said vessels above , or under surface of the sea). People that serve in the military now are separate subject. Again , those aren't cohesive bunch and military is going woke more and more . Of course , there are very capable units like Guards , paratroopers and special state sponsored terorist units lik SAS and SBS , but , overall , numbers are falling and the quality is falling. I'm writing this , as a far removed observer - I don't know the real state of UK military , but it is a far cry from the state it was in late cold war , or nineties - that's for sure. I mean , year and a half ago , I saw a General talking about imminent shortage of ammunition and missiles on the Russian side , in Russo Ukrainian war. For anyone with a half of brain - it is equivalent of saying : It is expected that Saudi's will run out of sand in near future...
So , in my opinion , funds would be better used for NHS and in schools , but only if you get a socially responsible politicians. Otherwise , it will just enhance corruption.
Sorry for a lengthy comment , but you've talked for half an hour - it is impossible to comment on all of it , in like five sentences (unless someone wants to troll) and I did left out some of the subjects. All the best !
