  1. In healthcare the great resignation is largely due to nurses doing the sign-on bonus jump. US was always a bit short on nurses, the pandemic made it much worse. The need for nurses went up while the old nurses retired. This translates into every hospital in my medical center are short of nurses. So the hospitals put up $25-30,000 one year sign on bonuses, and mine offer each nurse $700 extra on top of the 1.5x overtime pay to work an extra shift (that over $1400 for 12 hours of work)... So lots of nurses have been doing annual hospital merry-go-round to make like $150k a year.
