Let me give an Asian American (also immigrant American) perspective on American universities and students. It's wonderful for most of us Asian Americans. We came dirt poor, just really good at studying and math and sciences. Meeting my wife (another Chinese student) in graduate school just made the whole thing more AWESOME! We studied health sciences and graduated with six figure $ in debt which was worrying for us at the time, but our pay was more than that in our first year after graduation. So as the video said, education is an investment. And choosing the right degree to study has always been the path to the American Dream. Unfortunately, we also see many other students who are making bad investments, studying majors that have few or no real world jobs or pay very little. In Asia, we are taught to study "hard sciences", be good with math, chemistry and physics and you can go anywhere in the world and still find a good job. Know the worth of what you study should be common sense, right?
