I'm chinese. When I grew up, since the 1990s, Chinese government has over 100% tariff on foreign made cars. Meanwhile the government also require foreign companies that wants to build cars in China partner up with a chinese manufacturer, in effect, required those car technologies be transferred to the Chinese companies. I think it's fair if EU adopted the same policy, 100% tariff on foreign made cars, and require chinese car manufacturers that want to build cars within EU be partnered with EU manufacturer and transfer technologies.

@horchongkang6244 Sure, foreign car manufactuers in China mad billions of dollars, but that's also evently split with the Chinese partner company. So it's both technology transfer and profit sharing. So if EU did the same thing China did, made BYD partner up with VW to make cars in EU, transfer EV and battery technology and share 50% of the car profit with VW, I think it would be much more welcomed. Not willing to do so would be very double standard.
