  1. If devolution were going to kill nationalism stone dead, the Nationalist thinkers (there were some then, -now not so many!) would not have supported it. They knew their people well: anything positive they’d take credit for, and anything negative they’d blame on ‘Westminster’ !!! And they’d get away with it without challenge....

  2. As an ex-pat Scot who returns often, I’ve watched the pernicious effect of ‘all power no responsibility’ take hold. My sense, from many relatives and friends living there (all parties, all levels of education, most over 40) is that the SNP support is miles wide, but perilously thin. It won’t stand up to serious competent challenge.

  3. Thé deaths as a percentage of cases after winter as opposed to after summer is interesting. Victoria (Australia) is comparable in size to Scotland yet its death rate was much lower in Victoria (lots of reasons I imagine but first wave coming after summer probably not of no relevance). Victoria is now in a second wave coming after winter (Winter in Vic can be cold, wet and miserable). In a month or so if the Victorian death rate comparison with first wave is lower, then that’d be really interesting
