hi Goobie and everyone :) I like to exercise for the body and the mind at the same time. Yoga is movement meditation. By dropping my focus into the body during yoga, I feel almost "high" after yoga sometimes. The body is warm and loosened, I breathe deeper, I notice and appreciate nature more... the trees, the clouds, the sun, the rain, even the air and breath feels fresher. I feel grounded, connected and alive. It's like a baby, experiencing the world for the first time. I also walk mostly quietly and mindfully in the woods, even when I'm walking with someone - asmr irl. Yesterday on a trail, we stopped to watch and listen to the sound of a young squirrel eat its dinner. Sometimes, I walk in the hood around sunrise or at night when there are less people, less cars, and the world is less hurried. I hope you find moments of peace and joy today β¨β€peach

Hi Goobie, living with someone new is one of the hardest things to do, that's why so many reality tv shows are based on putting strangers under one roof 24-7. From my perspective (and I can be totally off base), there are many factors that caused the relationship to be hurt. You, your wife, your bro-IL are all going through some major changes in your lives, you're trying to heal yourself, getting used to all the attention you're receiving, and starting a new self-employment. There will be a good outcome from your honesty only if your bro is ready to listen, accept and work with you. Your positivity also comes from a place of love. You were practicing loving your bro and accepting him as he is, and sometimes at your own expense because we all make sacrifices for love. There's no easy answer. It seems you're ready to reconcile and I hope your bro-IL will be ready soon too. May love and compassion continue to guide your choices. β€π

"if you feel you're starting to panic, just take a moment, you're still alive, and you can collect yourself, figure out what you want to do." - Goobie
When life is hard, sometimes I'll do things that are physically demanding so the mind can shift it's attention to staying alive, to the present moment. It's a relief from the overthinking mind, to feel alive and sometimes I get a bonus from the challenging activity. I get a broader and less constrictive perspective of the thought and feeling bugging me. Life is not always easy but it's a little easier to breathe when we know we're not alone, and there is love and hope.
As always, I appreciate you Goobie for sharing the good times and the not so good times. I would also like to know how Mrs. C copes with the difficult times because a couple share one life. She also seems so gentle, kind and collected.
Choose love πβ€π

Hello Goobie, I've watched 2 out of the 4 scary stories so far and I got your point on the Keeling Curve video without you being explicit about it. We usually hang out with people who think like us, so we assume others think in the same wavelength as us but many don't. Maybe you can add your thoughts in the video description?
I used to think that people who don't try to reduce pollution don't care about climate change (binary thinking). When I looked closely, some of these people don't have a lot of money or don't spend a lot, so their lifestyles probably don't cause as much pollution as mine does (for example, taking public transport vs. driving, and flights). I'm not saying this to justify pollution, but to give myself hope on humanity. Many people live in quiet desperation and have little left in the tank (in time and effort) to give to our planet (or even to heal themselves). It takes time and effort to live differently and I feel stuck in this lifestyle as well. So after you find out more on deep adaptation, perhaps you can make videos about what you learnt so this community can explore and lift each other up in this climate crisis? I get what you think about collapse, but doing something in the right direction is better than doing nothing, right? π€·ββ
On lifestyle changes, I wanna share what I read in book. "Sun Si-miao, the greatest doctor of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE) said that the superior doctor should first adjust the patient's diet and lifestyle. Only if that does not eliminate the patient's disease should the doctor go on to administer acupuncture or herbs. This statement shows how important dietary therapy is in Traditional Chinese Medicine." You're a superior doctor, Goobie. You're also very adaptable, disciplined and strong-willed. That's why you're able to do the things you do, but not everyone is like you or can be like you, so some will fall short of your expectations. I hope that eases some of your frustration.
Oh, and my living room looks into a forest and I named one of the trees Jon (after Jon Kabat-Zinn). Hearing you say "Jon" reminds me of the tree and now it'll remind me of you too π Please say hi to Mrs and Doobie for me and Chris β€β€β€peach
