  15. tbh it was done at the end of Ottoman Empire, by people advocating for the end of said Empire. Not saying Ottomans were not responsible, but it is an oversimplification of history. Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic greeks survived for centuries under ottoman empire, despite occasionnal massacres, especially at the end of the empire (hamidian...) and genocides at the end.
