@sebastianr1204 it almost wiped them out of the German political landscape. And the Greens are socialist? Since when?

@El Dimos Karam no. Maddam is right. An US Style debt limit and shutdown is not possible. There is no hard ceiling. Or can you Name the number?

@drizzt7dourden7 the SPD is much better. Their scandals are rather small compared to what the CDU was doing.

@sebastianr1204 VW and Daimler Benz already announced to not produce combustion engines months ago, and the Greens werent in power. So it isnt because the Greens dont allow it. To forbid something, you have to be in power.

@danielwebb8402 public voted for parties. They get exactly what they voted for.

@danielwebb8402 This is not how an representative democracy works. You dont order a banana in the elections. You chose the cook you want to cook your next meals. But the cook decides on the menu.
3
@danielwebb8402 The menu like no border in the Irish sea or no tax increase? Works great.

@sebastianr1204 Petrol/Diesel cars is a rather void discussion now. In 5-10 years time, no major car manufacturer will offer them anymore. For the simple reason that the Chinese government decided to ban them to take away the advantage of the others nations manufacturers. As China is the biggest market, they make the rules. The Exit of coal power is also already decided. 2038. The question is only if it will be done earlier or not. I guess this will not be a political, but an economic decision: Green energy are already almost as cheap as coal, so the plants will be closed earlier, as they are too expensive.

@sebastianr1204 Germany is only a small market for VW/BMW/Daimler. If they would be able to continue to sell their combustion engines to other markets, they would. But they do not. It has nothing to do with the German Greens, but the world wide trend. Is the UK led by Greens? No? Why do they already passed a patrol ban?

@mweskamppp Who was in charge of the treasury during Cum Ex high noon? Schäuble. A man who is known for his corruption under Kohl.
2
@sebastianr1204 Germany has no power over internal matters in the EU. And many EU nations have banned the sale of petrol and Diesel cars years ago. France decided 2017 that it will ban them by 2040. Why didnt Germany stop them? The Greens were far from power then.

@El Dimos Karam No. The limit for the federal government is 0.35% of GDP each year. With exceptions in case of an emergency or economic hardship. There is no hard limit. I do not know where you get this number, but as long as you can not present a source, I assume it is wrong. My source: German Constitution, article 109 and 115

@adnan37h Than nothing happens. Lots of nations get along well with a care taker government.
1
@El Dimos Karam No. It grows each year, it is a relative value, not an absolute one. The US has a hard limit on total debt. Germany has a maximum of new debt each year, depending on the GDP. And the 0.35% will be increased in case of an emergency.

@the0ne809 About the filibuster: the idea is that it forces both parties to compromise and work together. But the assumption was that both parties would want the best for the country, and not one party ready to crash the country to gain votes...

@ciseaux It was Merkel boosting the right (CDU). Without her, they lost heavily.
